1. What We Collect

Free assessment check: Your property address or parcel number is used to query public King County records. We do not store this data.

Paid appeal generation: We collect your name, email, and phone number (if provided) to generate your appeal documents. Appeal data is stored in our system to provide filing support and reminders.

Assessment monitoring: If you sign up for monitoring, we store your email address and parcel number to notify you of future assessment changes.

Payment: Payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card information. See Stripe's privacy policy.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • Generate and deliver your appeal documents
  • Send filing reminders and deadline notifications
  • Send assessment monitoring alerts (if opted in)
  • Respond to support requests
  • Improve the Service

3. What We Don't Do

  • We never sell your personal information
  • We never share your data with third parties for marketing
  • We do not use your data for purposes unrelated to the Service

4. Data Storage and Security

Data is stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure in the United States. We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest.

5. Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Service. Google Analytics collects anonymized usage data. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

6. Data Retention

Appeal data (property details, selected comparables, deficiency selections) is temporarily stored on AWS S3 for up to 30 days to support document delivery, after which it is automatically deleted. Generated documents are delivered immediately and are not retained beyond the 30-day window. Email addresses and parcel numbers for assessment monitoring are retained until you request deletion. Purchase records are retained for tax and legal compliance purposes.

7. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing kingcountytaxappeal@gmail.com.

8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to: (a) know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; (b) request deletion of your personal information; (c) opt out of the sale of your personal information — we do not sell personal information; and (d) not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. To exercise these rights, email kingcountytaxappeal@gmail.com. We will respond within 45 days.

9. Cookies

We use Google Analytics 4, which may set cookies to collect anonymized usage data such as pages visited, time on site, and referral source. No personally identifiable information is collected by analytics cookies. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by configuring your browser to block cookies.
